How does Conekto manage Fraud?
With Conekto, all transactions are online and monitored. This means that every card transaction is checked with the issuing bank (your customer’s bank) and their bank has to approve the transaction. All Conekto card readers are chip and PIN enabled. Chip and PIN cards have much lower fraud activity on them and are being rolled out globally as the standard for bank cards. All banks keep a hot card list that keeps all cards that have been reported as lost or stolen. In Conekto’s case, this list is kept by our partner bank who screen every transaction against the host card list. Once a card is flagged then our Risk team starts the investigation with our partners whether to confirm if it is indeed fraudulent activity.
Conekto and Security – How safe are the payments?
The Conekto payment terminals are PCI compliant and adhere to EMV certification:
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a proprietary information security standard for organisations that handle branded credit cards from the major card schemes including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB.
EMVCo exists to facilitate worldwide interoperability and acceptance of secure payment transactions.
It accomplishes this by managing and evolving the EMV® Specifications and related testing processes.
This includes, but is not limited to, card and terminal evaluation, security evaluation, and management of interoperability issues.
Today there are EMV Specifications based on contact chip, contactless chip, common payment application (CPA), card personalisation, and tokenisation. This work is overseen by EMVCo’s six member organisations—American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay, and Visa—and supported by dozens of banks, merchants, processors, vendors and other industry stakeholders who participate as EMVCo Associates.
How do these standards translate for Conekto?
The Conekto products are PCI compliant and have EMV Certification. All data is securely encrypted in the card reader. The card readers are tamper proof – if someone tries to tamper with the card reader, the chipboard will fry and the card reader will be rendered useless.
Can I Use multiple devices ?
Yes, the Conekto Payment terminals can be used with multiple devices.
For example, if you and your business partner each have a phone and want to use the card reader separately, you can.
However, the card reader can only be used with one device (phone, tablet or PC) at a time.
Two people cannot use one card reader at the same time.
